Zone 1
Light against the Darkness
The first zone is <Light against the Darkness>. In this space, you encounter the Memory of the World - humanity's journey from darkness to light. Mankind has been leaving records that help us understand and share in order to overcome fear, ignorance, and disconnection.

The Memory of the World has documented our journey from darkness to light through human history. Through this documentation, we give meaning to the complex history of the world. What do we mean by the Memory of the World and our journey from darkness? We find the answers in various fields of history such as language, religion, medicine, science, and history.

Let's take a look at the Memory of the World which contains the wisdom and enlightenment of mankind from the past, starting with cuneiform, the first written language in existence, and then on to Copernicus' heliocentric theory that changed the world.
Northern Lights, 2023 (Minsang Cho)
The Nebra Sky Disc stands as an ancient artifact, offering an early glimpse into humanity’s fascination with the cosmos. It portrays celestial elements like the Sun, Moon, and stars, providing a tangible record of our earliest attempts to comprehend the universe. ‘Northern Lights’ serves as a contemporary interpretation of how ancient civilizations once observed and documented the celestial wonders. In this juxtaposition of ancient wisdom and modern perception, the depiction of the night sky becomes more intricate, eventually blurred by the complexities of three-dimensional artistry. ‘Northern Lights’ pays homage to this ancient legacy. It strives to project not only aesthetic beauty but also the essence of wonder and curiosity it embodies. This connection between ancient marvels and the work seeks to emphasize humanity’s enduring curiosity about the cosmos, uniting the past and present through the universal language of light and celestial imagery.
