Light of the Changing Media

Zone 2
Light of the Changing Media
Zone 2, <Light of the Changing Media>, shows how the records of the past and present are interconnected. Although the form of recording has changed, the memory of humanity is the same. Beginning with leaving records on clay, leaves, bones, and trees, which are commonly found around us, records have evolved into a way of conveying one’s message in a more detailed, realistic, and lively manner. And now, records contain moving, living memories rather than static moments.

This space shows various forms that make up the Memory of the World, and the spectrum of light changes depending on different angles.

The medium that contains the records may be a tool to convey one’s message, but the medium itself can also be the message. In this zone, think about which medium you want to use to leave your memory and records.
Landscape Remembered, 2023 (Leenam Lee)
The act of recording may be to remember something permanently. Human beings and generations have appeared and disappeared throughout history, but traces of heritage remain. The work reconstructs the legacies of different acts of recording and traces between continents and civilizations from the Eastern worldview of landscape painting. Fragmented documentary heritage meets, intersects, and creates new stories and relationships in digital media. These recording media move in digital arithmetic and convey mighty power in people’s memories. Through , the artist seeks to show the inflexion point in communication by connecting ancient and modern times as an intermediary in digital media technology.
